Viva Las Vegas

This week, I was by-name selected for a brand new position in Las Vegas, Nevada. Holy Cow! What do I do? I had pressure from everyone a work (here and in San Antonio) to make a quick decision. I know that I can do the job and the recognition would greatly benefit my Military career but what about my life here? What if something even better comes along later? I have done a lot of soul searching in the past few days which has emotionally drained me. I didn’t expect an opportunity like this to just pop up. I thought that I would be safe here until next fall (with exception to deployments of course). I asked my functional manager if I could have until after the weekend to make a decision but he wanted an answer right away. I told him that I was not prepared to give him an answer at that moment and to just do whatever he had to do. He has offered the job to all eligible within our Center (wing-level) with a volunteer date of next Friday. If they do not have a volunteer by then it will become a mandatory move for the most eligible. This is determined by the Date Arrive Station (DAS) which puts me close to (if not at) the top of the list. So there it is. I have turned the outcome of my future over to fate.

In other news…
I’m on my way to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the second time. If you haven’t seen it, GO SEE IT! If you don’t want to see it because you’re a die-hard fan of the first movie, read the book by Roald Dahl, then GO SEE IT! You can’t compare the two, and I would never consider this a remake of the first one. I loved Gene Wilder and the classic version will always be one of my favorites but in this Tim Burton version the characters are portrayed more like the original story. GO SEE IT!

Have a great Saturday!

I hope fate takes good care of my Big Sister. I'll miss you more than I already do (but at least I'd have a place to stay if I made my way to Vegas):~).
