6 Month Savings Plan

Yes the rumors are true…I came into work yesterday morning to find out that I will be leaving next week for 30 days of combat training. From there I will deploy to somewhere "over there" till February. This will leave me with only a few weeks to out-process, say goodbye to family and friends and move to Korea.

The news was quite a shocker mostly because of the short notice.

I plan to turn off my internet next week so I won't be able to blog much but I will have internet access when I get over there. I promise to update you all when I can.

Part 2 More In-Depth (Sans Pics)

We began our long journey 2 weeks ago today with our first stop at Oma's house in Mississippi. We had a nice big breakfast and got back on the road heading toward Dallas. This was my first visit (actually every stop was a first for me) and I really enjoyed Dallas. I even picked up a Real Estate guide. It's actually affordable to live out there. We got to the city in time for dinner at the Hard Rock where I added yet another shot glass to my collection. We attempted to make it a little bit further west but both of our eyes were pretty heavy after dinner so we rested for the night. Next stop…Santa Fe. I didn't make reservations because I didn't want to restrict any of our destinations but we barley got a hotel room in ol Santa Fe. Yes, stupid me forgot that it was also Memorial Day weekend. We called every hotel downtown and everything was booked except for the beautiful Hotel Plaza Real which had only 1 room left. It was a bit pricier than we had budgeted for but we were intent on staying downtown and it ended up being well worth it. We spent the evening walking around/shopping downtown. We found a busy little rooftop cantina with delicious margaritas and a fancy restaurant next door called the Coyote Café a must if you're ever in the area. We did a little more site-seeing in the morning after our yummy breakfast tacos then hit the road again. We wanted to stop by Mesa Verde Park but we didn't calculate the drive through elevations up to 10,000 ft in Colorado that slowed our travel time significantly. We got there around sunset so we decided to press on towards Salt Lake City. I add the 24th shot glass to the collection then off to Idaho and Oregon. A beautiful drive through the Cascades then we finally made it in to Seattle Tuesday afternoon.

I know that long posts are unpopular and are rarely read so I'll continue with my Seattle visit when I get the pictures. Overall, I had a fantastic trip.
