Temporary?
Here I am at work searching for a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a group of us to vacation at and I come across a blog (on blogspot) about camping. Although it wasn't at all what I was looking for and it was not helpful to me in any way…I think "hmmm…how am I able to see this blog if blogspot has been blocked by the base servers?" So, I go to my blog site, which usually comes up with an error message, and there it is. Thank you network administrators.
Someone just sent this to me so I thought I would include it:
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Wow...that was fun!"

Viva Las Vegas
This week, I was by-name selected for a brand new position in Las Vegas, Nevada. Holy Cow! What do I do? I had pressure from everyone a work (here and in San Antonio) to make a quick decision. I know that I can do the job and the recognition would greatly benefit my Military career but what about my life here? What if something even better comes along later? I have done a lot of soul searching in the past few days which has emotionally drained me. I didn’t expect an opportunity like this to just pop up. I thought that I would be safe here until next fall (with exception to deployments of course). I asked my functional manager if I could have until after the weekend to make a decision but he wanted an answer right away. I told him that I was not prepared to give him an answer at that moment and to just do whatever he had to do. He has offered the job to all eligible within our Center (wing-level) with a volunteer date of next Friday. If they do not have a volunteer by then it will become a mandatory move for the most eligible. This is determined by the Date Arrive Station (DAS) which puts me close to (if not at) the top of the list. So there it is. I have turned the outcome of my future over to fate.
In other news…
I’m on my way to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the second time. If you haven’t seen it, GO SEE IT! If you don’t want to see it because you’re a die-hard fan of the first movie, read the book by Roald Dahl, then GO SEE IT! You can’t compare the two, and I would never consider this a remake of the first one. I loved Gene Wilder and the classic version will always be one of my favorites but in this Tim Burton version the characters are portrayed more like the original story. GO SEE IT!
Have a great Saturday!

Feelin’ Hot~Hot~Hot
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Ahhh…who am I kidding, it wouldn’t have mattered what side I woke up on, it’s PMS. Co-workers, friends, and significant other, beware. I’ll be here all week.
My Uncle is in the area for a conference the next 2 weeks. He is a Chief Master Sergeant stationed in Tucson. He came by my office this afternoon and took me to lunch (thanks, chief!). Someone asked me later if that CMSgt was my husband (ya know, same last name an all) ;-)
Sad news in volleyball: The Juana’s summer league has been cancelled due to hurricane Dennis damage www.juanaspagodas.com check out the photos.
The weather has been insanely HOT & Humid. I love it though! I know everyone thinks I’m crazy but I grew up in this heat. After work I put on my suit and jumped into the pool. Ahhh...life is good (except for the PMS of course)!

Summer Sun
First of all, I would like to welcome my sister, Connie, to the blogging world.
It has been a beautiful weekend. Unless you actually go to the beach, you can’t even tell that hurricane Dennis hit us only a week ago. Most of the clean up in Fort Walton Beach is complete.
Friday was a bit rainy but not inconveniently. It kinda went with my mood. I did make reservations for my roommate and I, at this new wood grilled seafood restaurant on the Boardwalk called the Black Pearl. Jack and I are notorious for getting bad service at restaurants. Beginning Friday, our luck has seemed to change. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. It was a bit pricey but well worth it.
Saturday we drove out to Destin for some pizza at the Mellow Mushroom, again, great service and great food. We took our leftovers home then took down the top on the Jeep. We headed back out to the Destin Commons with our hair blowing in the perfect breeze. We did a little shopping at Maui Nix and Hollister’s, made a stop at Starbucks then went to see War of the Worlds (loved it).
Today has been a little more relaxed. Went to the BX to get some pool supplies then did some grocery shopping at the Commissary. The rest of the afternoon I spent baking in the sun and swimming in the pool. I'm hoping to get the boat out next weekend. Mars is conked out right now from all of the running around out back. I tried to teach him to swim but he’s really not a fan of the water. He does love the water toys though. I had to chase him a couple of times to get the squashy ball back.
Well, timer is going off. Supper is ready.
Hope you all had a great weekend too.
